Welcome To DreamDesign Lab

At DreamDesign Lab, we empower students to explore the world of design thinking, CAD, and product engineering. Through our hands-on program, students learn to identify problems, develop innovative solutions, and bring their ideas to life through prototype fabrication

OUR PROGRAM

Following the launch of a new Makerspace funded by a grant from ASML, Wakeman Boys & Girls Club was exploring ways to incorporate the space into its summer camp programming. After meeting with the Director of Programs, Bradford proposed leading a hands-on STEM workshop to teach the students how to use the Makerspace tools to transform their ideas into real-world products.

The program is a 5-day STEM workshop for youth (ages 10–12) at Wakeman Boys & Girls Club, focused on hands-on learning in CAD, 3D modeling, and prototyping. During the workshop, students are guided through the full design process using one of their own ideas—from design thinking and basic CAD design to printing techniques and the creation of a 3D-printed prototype.

The workshop concludes with a student design competition judged by local engineers and sponsored by a local community bank. Each student presents their prototype and explains the design techniques they used, receiving feedback and encouragement from the professional judges. At the end of the competition, one student is awarded a $100 prize, and all students take home their completed 3D-printed designs.

About The Founder

Bradford Benton

At Dream Design LAB, we empower students to explore the world of design thinking, CAD, and product engineering. Through our hands-on program, students learn to identify problems, develop innovative solutions, and bring their ideas to life through prototype fabrication.

I’m a senior at New Canaan High School with a 98.4/100 GPA, and a strong academic foundation in STEM, including AP Calculus, Physics, Computer Science, and Honors Multivariable Calculus. I’m a member of the National Honor Society and a recipient of the Congressional Award Gold Medal for completing over 800 hours of service, personal development, and physical fitness.

Outside the classroom, I apply what I learn by building real-world projects—whether it’s building a backyard roller coaster, converting a go-kart into an electric drift kart, or designing and welding my own e-bike. I founded Dream Design Lab to teach STEM and design thinking to underserved middle school students, and I’ve taught hundreds of younger kids 3D modeling and printing through local libraries and clubs. I’ve also been recognized in DECA competitions at the state and national levels.

I’m passionate about engineering, problem-solving, and using innovation to make a difference in my community.
